Zeus – 1.1.20210-5.15.2023

Zeus walked slowly towards the rainbow. It was a sad day for he didn’t want to go into the rainbow until he was sure his owner was ready, but he knew the rainbow was peaceful. He turned back to look one more time back through the veil. His owner had tears streaming down her cheeks as she said goodbye to his now lifeless body. He was at peace and she knew that, but the pain was etched in her face. She would go home and his baby brother, Apollo, who would keep her company through her grief and help her through this time. Together they would grieve.

For thirteen years he had been her support and lifeline. He leaned on her when she was sad and got her through the hardest days. She had many hard days as well as many happy days. Now it was time for his baby brother to step up. Sure Apollo wouldn’t be able to take to his place he knew that, but he would be able to help her heal, and apart of him would help fill the void she was feeling.

So he turned back to the rainbow and walked slowly towards it before he realized he felt no more aches or pains that he had slowly developed over the last few years. With a smile, he ran towards the rainbow barking happily. Into the distance he saw his dear old friend and playmate, Buttercup, he had lost awhile ago waiting for him, and also he felt the presence of other dogs waiting by the rainbow. They were the dogs that had come before him that she had also loved, Shadow and Snickers. Together they would be a family and play. 

In that rainbow field, they would be able to play fetch, roll around, and play all day, no longer in pain, always remembering the good days with their family and the cuddles and love they had. 

Together they would watch over baby brother and their owner, forever remaining in their in hearts. It was time for baby brother to carry on the torch for him and take care of their owner.
